Dr Hogan Patricia M. Hogan, VMD
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons

Dr. Hogan has turned a lifetime love for horses into a successful career as an equine surgeon attending to some of the most valuable Standardbred and Thoroughbred racehorses in the country. Dr. Hogan is originally from New Jersey and obtained her veterinary education at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1992. After an internship at the famed Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital and a 3-year surgical residency at Texas A&M University, Dr Hogan returned home to New Jersey to practice. The construction of the clinic at Fair Winds Farm is the culmination of a lifelong dream.
Dr Hogan has also been instrumental in the design and construction of the new state-of-the-art 17 million dollar Ruffian Medical Center at Belmont Park.

During this time she continued to show horses and give riding lessons.

Melissa and her husband Ed have three children, Tammy, Andrea and Ed. In her spare time she rides and competes in Quarter Horse shows with her two Quarter Horse fillies.

She has been part of Dr Hogan's staff since 2005.

Surgical Technician

Missy began to ride when she was 7 years old. Her passion for horses encouraged her to participate in riding clubs, teaching lessons, research, and working with young horses. Her life long dream of being a part of the equine medical field gave her the motivation to attend Rutgers University, where she received her B.S. in Animal Science. Shortly after graduation she was given the opportunity to join the wonderful team of people at Hogan Equine.

Outside of work she enjoys riding her horse Boomer. She also enjoys music, going to the gym, the beach, and being outdoors.

Greg has been around horses since he was a child as his family has been involved in harness racing for over 30 years.  He started working professionally with horses at age 14 and learned the business from the ground up.
He met Dr Hogan in 2003 at a race meet and as a result developed an interest in veterinary medicine and started working as a surgical technician.  It was also at this time that he met his girlfriend, Julie, who is a vet at the University of Pennsylvania.

In his spare time he likes to rock climb, surf, kayak and ride his Standardbred horse “Swatter”.  Greg also hopes to own a couple of racehorses one day.

Jennifer Woodhead Jennifer Stewart

Jen Woodhead has always been passionate about horses, started riding them at her aunt’s farm at only 4 years of age and owned her own at 9.  She was working as a groom when she became interested in veterinary medicine and began working with Dr Hogan in 1998. In 2004, she fell in love with one of her patients, a Thoroughbred mare named Gigi and soon after adopted her.  The pair now enjoys showing and trail riding.  Gigi has been a wonderful companion to Jen bringing her great joy, as does her job, which she finds very fulfilling and rewarding.
